In short
From Naples to the Royal Palace of Caserta the private transfer takes about 30 minutes without traffic, along the A1 motorway. To see the royal apartments and the park, allow at least 4 hours. I drop you in front of the entrance on piazza Carlo di Borbone and pick you up when you have finished: it is the most comfortable option even if you are coming from Sorrento or the Amalfi Coast.

How to plan the visit
- Early morning: leave Naples and arrive at opening time, when it is less crowded.
- Royal apartments: the grand staircase, the halls, the library and the Bourbon nativity scene.
- The park: three kilometres of fountains up to the Great Waterfall and the English Garden. Inside the park you can take the shuttle or hire a bike.
- Return: I pick you up at the exit at the agreed time.
Combine it with…
- Caserta Vecchia, the medieval village on the hill, about 20 minutes from the palace.
- The Belvedere of San Leucio, the silk-making colony founded by the Bourbons, a few minutes away.
- Lunch with buffalo mozzarella, a speciality of the Caserta area.
My advice
Check closing days and opening hours on the palace’s official website beforehand, and buy your ticket in advance during holiday periods. In summer the park is very exposed to the sun: a hat and water are essential.
