Vico Equense the gateway to the peninsula
The first town overlooking the gulf after Castellammare: a Gothic church on the cliff, a castle, Monte Faito behind it and the famous pizza by the metre.

A town on the cliff
The name recalls the ancient Roman Aequana. In the Middle Ages Vico was a bishop’s seat: the church of the Santissima Annunziata, the only Gothic church on the peninsula, stands on a cliff dropping sheer to the sea.
Castello Giusso, of Angevin origin, dominates the old town.

Sea, mountains and pizza
Behind the town rises Monte Faito, with woods and trails at over a thousand metres. Along the coast, the marinas of Equa and Seiano offer beaches and beach clubs.
Vico is famous for pizza by the metre, served on long wooden boards, and for provolone del Monaco, a cheese made in the Lattari Mountains.
