Tramonti the Amalfi Coast of vineyards
The only municipality on the Amalfi Coast without a sea: thirteen hamlets among century-old vines, chestnut woods and the tradition of the pizza makers who left from here for all of Italy.

Among the mountains of the coast
Tramonti means “among the mountains”: the town fills a green valley behind Maiori, divided into thirteen hamlets. For the Republic of Amalfi it was a reserve of timber, chestnuts and wine.
At the Valico di Chiunzi, the gateway to the Amalfi Coast for anyone arriving from Naples, a tower that once controlled the pass still stands.

Wine and pizza
Tramonti’s vineyards are among the oldest in Campania: some ungrafted vines are over a hundred years old. The local wineries produce Costa d’Amalfi wines.
In the twentieth century hundreds of pizza makers left Tramonti and opened pizzerias all over Italy: the town is considered one of the capitals of pizza.
